Strayer University
Strayer University is an accredited online school, which offers online and campus-based education at 100 locations in the US. It offers online coures to US and international students. It is a private, United States-based for-profit post secondary institution with about 38,000 stuents. It has extensive online (web-based) learning programs as well as 100 campuses in 24 cities. Essentially, Strayer University specializes in offering undergraduate and graduate degrees for working adults. Degree progarms include information technology, accounting, business administration, criminal justice, and public administration.
Strayer University as founded by Dr. S. Irving Strayer in Baltimore, Maryland in 1892. Its original name was Strayer's Business College. It originally focused on teaching business skills to former farm workers. This included shorthad, typing, and accounting. In 1998, the college became Strayer University, which was awareded by the District of Columbia Education Licensure Commission. The university exploded in growth at the beginning of this century when it established campuses in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Florida. It soon added additional campuses in Delaware, New Jersey, Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Utah, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

More than half the the enrollment of Strayer University involves students taking online courses. In fact, students may complete entire bachelor's and master's degree programs. In 2013, they began closing some campuses citing low enrollment. The affected students were told that they could finish their degree programs online.
Strayer University is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, which is a regionally accrediting body recognized by the Department of Education.
