North Central College is a comprehensive liberal arts college affiliated with the United Methodist Church. It serves a wide range of students for various ethic and religious backgrounds. Its programs include both residential and off-campus as well as both full-time and part-time students.
Founded in 1861 as Plainfield College in Plainfield, Illinois, North Central College started offering classes on November 11 of that year. Its name was change on February 15, 1864 to North-Western College. Later in 1870, the college moved to Naperville. The current name of North Central College was adopted in 1926.
North Central College boasts a 64.6% overall acceptance rate as of the 2012-13 academic year. The high school GPA average for admitted high school graduates was 3.6 for that year.
According to US News & World Report, North Central College is considered one of the two “more selective” regionally accredited colleges in Illinois. The other one is Bradley University in Peoria.
