Full Sail University (fullsail.edu) is a private for profit school that immerses students in the entertainment industry.
Located in Winter Park, Florida, Full Sail University is a for-profit university that focuses on audio recording, video production, film production, and other entertainment and media-related areas of study. It started in 1979 in Dayton, Ohio as Full Sail Recording Workshop and relocated to its current home near Orlando in 1980. Full Sail University is not regionally accredited. It is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). It is permitted to award Associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in audio, film, design, computer animation, business, and other fields. Full Sail Univeristy’s main campus just northeast of Orlando, Florida, in Winter Park. The campus includes central administration offices, a university library, and academic buildings. This includes more than 100 studios, a backlot, and production environments, an auditoriam, and Full Sail Studios. They moved to their current location in 1989 and expanded once in 2004 by adding three more buildings and in 2009 they added a 49,000-square foot building near the campus. That building is being used primarily for their online programs.
