Devry Universityis a well-known for-profit higher education institution/organization that offers both on-campus and online degree programs. DeVry University and DeVry Institute of Technology are part of DeVry, Inc. As such, they are within the same organization as the Keller Graduate School of Management, Ross University, American University of the Caribbean, Carrington College, Carrington College California, and The Chamberlain College of Nursing.
Devry University was founded in Chicago in 1931. Originally it was called the DeForest Training School. In 1953, it became DeVry Technical only to be purchased a couple of years later by Bell and Howell. Soon the Bell and Howell Education Group was renamed DeVry Institutes. Devry University now has 22 campus locations nationwide. (Their website claims 95 locations.)
Devry University offers a wide range of programs and courses. These include computer information systems, engineering, business admin, and communication management. Most degree programs are offered at both the associate’s and bachelor’s level.
Devry University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association.
Over the years Devry University has had numerous legal problems. These involved allegations regarding students misreporting their income, claims regarding poor educational quality, advertising misrepresentation, and poor job preparation.
Devry University offers all three degree levels (associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s) through their Online Education program.
