Ashford University Online, a division of Ashford University, which is a for-profit university owned by Bridgeport Education, is located in Clinton, Iowa. It boasts that it is accredited and is involved with a wide range of associations. It is currently accredited The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities. However, that came under questions recently after HLC learned that another regional accreditation organization denied the universities application. Ashford University consists of several colleges. These include the College of Business and Professional Studies, the College of Education, the College of Health, Human Services, and Science, and the College of Liberal Arts. Currently no doctorates are offered. Each one of its colleges offers a wide selection of bachelor’s degrees and a handful of master’s degrees. Their degree offerings are more extensive for their on-line programs than their campus-based programs. Interestingly, one of the accreditation issues is its ratio of full-time to non-full-time faculty. This may be reflected by their increased use of part-time faculty for their online courses.
